Meet with several WWII heroes, historians, plus a Japanese Pilot.
Sept 1-16 2007

The National Museum Of the Pacific War and The Admiral Nimitz Foundation annual symposium was attended by the OE Team in Fredericksburg on the 15th and 16th of September 2007. As always the event was very informative and literally “jam-packed” with luminaries both panelists, and our Fantastic WWII Pacific Veterans!! We meet, exchanged ideas and pathways with panelists such as Col. Joseph Alexander, Donald Goldstein, Jim Hornfischer, and Richard Frank.

Another interesting fellow we encountered was Richard Latture the editor-in-chief of Naval History Magazine, whom we discussed with in some detail the OE exploratory efforts in west New Britain.

It was our great pleasure and honor to meet two True U.S. heroes of the First Order, both veterans of “Red Mike” Edson’s 1st Marine Raiders,

Frank Guidone, and Jim “Horse Collar” Smith, oh…Man!!

Another very special treat was the attendance of the symposium by the Japanese Ace Kaname Harada (9 Victories) a veteran of, get this, Pearl Harbor, Midway, and Guadalcanal!!

Thanks to the Museum and Nimitz Foundation for another great weekend of insight and historical bliss!!
