2009 Expedition HeadHunters
The 'HEADHUNTER' expedition of 2009 was an unqualified success, but hey with a Crew and Team like we had headed to an unexplored chunk of the Coral Triangle what else could have resulted! I must first thank 'Master & Commander' Captain Alan Raabe and his amazing crew aboard our expedition vessel MV FeBrina, yall are just amazing! Next we have our team of artists and scientists who were at the core of our exploratory success. Scott 'Gutsy' Tuason our prime photographer was of course unreal, oh man what images he made!! Our science group included biologist Dr. Mary Wicksten accompanied by her long time dive buddy Dr. Myra Pierce, (Mary was able to discover 3 confirmed and maybe 4 new un described species), our cultural marine biologist Freda Paiva whom was indispensable with our interactions with the incredible peoples and their beautifully pristine waters! And our geophysicist Dr. Steve Saunders who led us around Ritter Island with incredible insights into this amazing place, the site of the largest lateral collapse of an oceanic volcanic island in recorded history single event 5 cubic Km slide. Our expedition was able to add approximately 10 times the data of previously gathered scientific knowledge about this epic volcanic site! !!

Our special guest Sean Honey of Tufi dive added the
xgen perspective while completing his dive master training. And of course
what voyage aboard FeBrina would be complete without Dick Doyle our guide
and interpreter whose knowledge of this region is incomparable! Thanks
again all and we will see yall in 2010, 'Good Headhunting, and Good on
Yall', from John and George
