Myra grew up in Birmingham AL and went to Birmingham-Southern College then graduated from Emory University School of Medicine and did her internship and residency at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.  She married a medical student, who entered the Navy and was stationed in North Carolina.  Myra did general practice in a small town near the base. When he left the service they moved to California.  She has two boys. She lost her husband in 1983.

Myra started diving in 1986 and has more than 600 dives.  She has dove over the world but never to PNG.  She retired in 2000 to "enjoy life more". After 19 years as a widow, I met a widower, Fred Dal Bello, on a ski club campout.  Fred a Navy diver on a submarine but had not been diving in over 35 years.  He got recertified and now together they enjoy diving, skiing, RVing, and traveling.  They were married in 2002.

They just returned from diving the Cenotes in Mexico and are headed off soon to go mushroom hunting just below Mt. Shasta.
